About Carbon Compared
Carbon Compared was born out of a personal need and a professional challenge. While working on a decarbonisation strategy for the company I was part of, I was tasked with sourcing high-quality carbon creditsto offset the company's residual emissions. What should have been a straightforward step in a broader sustainability plan quickly revealed itself to be far more complicated than expected.
As I began researching available options, I was struck by the lack of clarity and consistency across the voluntary carbon market. Much of what I found raised more questions than answers: which creditswere genuinely impactful? How could I be sure that the projects were additional, scientifically sound, and backed by robust MRV? At the same time, widespread media coverage was casting doubt on the integrity of many carbon credits, with some dismissed as ineffective or even "junk."
The more I searched, the clearer it became. There was a significant gap between the companies seeking to take credible climate action and the complex world of carbon credits.
Carbon Compared was created to help close that gap.
This platform is designed to increase transparency in the carbon market, remove the barriers to finding high-integrity credits, and demystify the comparison process. It allows users to explore and evaluate a wide range of carbon removal and reduction projects across key metrics such as project type, location, co-benefits, accreditation, pricing, and more.
My hope is that Carbon Compared will serve as a practical, mission-driven tool for businesses, especially those without the resources to hire sustainability consultants, who want to make informed, confident decisions about carbon offsetting. Because climate action should be accessible, accountable, and built on trust.
