    Carbon Registry

Database system that tracks the ownership and transfer of carbon credits to prevent double counting. Examples include Verra, Gold Standard, and American Carbon Registry.

Why carbon registry matters for carbon credit buyers

Registries are the bookkeeping backbone of the carbon market: they approve methodologies, oversee third-party verification, issue credits with unique serial numbers, and retire them when claimed. A credit outside a recognised registry cannot be reliably tracked and risks double counting. The registry behind a credit, whether Verra, Gold Standard, Puro.earth, Isometric, ACR, CAR, or another recognised standard, is a baseline quality signal.

    Put it into practice

Compare carbon removal and avoidance projects side by side, with accreditations, vintages, and independent quality ratings.
